His...

...and mine.

This is the one I purchased all those years ago when Clayton was born. It was his.

Today this arrived. It is mine.

I will wear this during Clayton's deployment. Our last visit with him is hours away. I have knots in my stomach.

The Kiss

What is it about a sweet kitty that makes you want to kiss it? Ask Clay!

Signs of a visit

Signs that Clay came to visit.

I thought soldiers were taught how to make a bed?
And that toilet lid should be down. We have pets!

Me goofing off.

Five more minutes....
....make it ten.

Got my gear, ready to go!

My fortress is invulnerable!

Twice around the block driver!"

Easter Photos

I almost forgot to upload our Easter Sunday photos. These were taken right before we left for church.

Sunday

Today was a special day at church. Pastor Doug remembered Clay's upcoming deployment during prayer time. And then we got to celebrate with Jim and Juna Keever because their son, David, returned from Afghanistan last week. Jim shared with the congregation that he had been wearing a flag tie since David deployed and today he was taking it off because David had returned home. The Keever's have passed the tie on to Barry. I can't explain how that filled my heart. They know exactly how we feel and the journey ahead of us.

Clay's visit

Clay returned to Ft. Campbell yesterday. The house was quiet today. I miss his laughter and conversation already. Barry and I will fly out in a few weeks to see him one final time before he deploys. How will I manage the long journey before us? I'm already concerned with his well-being while in Afghanistan. Will it be too cold or too hot? Sandy and windy? Bad food? Clean underwear? Sleep deprived? Will he be safe?

Clay celebrated his 26th birthday while he was home. 26! How did that happen? Thank you to everyone that helped us celebrate with him. He enjoyed his day.

On Leave

Clay arrives today on pre-deployment leave. I can't wait until it is time to go to the airport to pick him up. We will celebrate his 26th birthday on Saturday and spend Easter with family.

I plan to cook a lot of his favorite meals his week home and I may even do his laundry for ole times sake. Nothing wrong with a little pampering from Mom before he trades the comforts of home for unknown conditions in Afghanistan.

I'll post pictures from the weekend later.

The photo above is his first slice of Pizza just hours after graduating from boot camp last year. He was a happy camper that day.
